What
does Flyball mean to us?
(Journal entry from Diana)
As
a team it means racing and trying to create the fastest teams
we can, given the dogs we have. The 'Sixteen Second Club' is a
place we want to be and that is our goal. We are very serious
about our flyball. On the other hand, we like to travel and we
like to have fun with our dogs and team mates.
Q:
How far is too far? A: How good is the competition and how much
will it inspire us to do better? Those are the questions we ask
before we hit the road.
Most
of us hold jobs to fund our doggie habits. The Steins are the
lucky ones that get to play dogs twenty four hours a day. The
rest of us do the best we can and love to spend the occasional
weekend at Camp Stein in Vermont, enjoying the permanent agility
and flyball equipment and the beautiful mountain views. The traveling
to Tournaments and practices gives us a chance to spend time with
each other. We all live at least an hour from one another and
we really only see each other at those times.
Oh,
the stories we can tell! Like:
How
many dogs and people can you fit in a mini-van?
Do Jack Russells make good hood ornaments?
Who brought the blender?
How many dogs fit in your living room at once?
Did you know you can't get back into Canada from the Duty Free
shop? But you can make a u-turn at the tolls pulling a
twenty-nine foot trailer!
How many Dunkin Donuts are there between Worcester, MA and Harrisburg,
PA?
The legend of Sven and Thor.
That beer bottle picture.
Robin, is that really a dog or just a big black seal?
How many dogs can you walk at once?
Scott, what's the line up?
Are Kiwi's eyes spinning in her head yet?
The answer to your training problem is obedience and motivation,
but not necessarily in that order.
Can we see your RV?
Anyone got an extension cord?
Better not win anything in the raffle, it won't fit!
How many dogs will fit in a size 200 crate?
What the heck is an LCBO?
Binbrook or bust!
Niagara Falls...slowly I turned...
This van does not turn around. We will get there somehow...but
we will NOT turn around.
Running, anyone?
Is Diana lost again?
Eileen? Eileen?! Your dog is hiding under the sink again.
Scott, what does the rule book say about...?
Hollis, can we afford to...?
Robin, about that list...
Michelle, could you look at the bump on...?
Is Gail under that pile of Cockers?
Singing The
Sushi Song and
doing The Fusion and Express Dances",
and finally
Kathryn, it's okay! It really IS okay!
