Our Trip to the Binbrook (Blackout) Blast!

The Binbrook (Ancaster) Blackout Blast!

Best Time for NET...15.96!! Holy Mackerel

Congrats to Brazen (Kathryn), Pyro (Scott), Caili (Eileen), Fusion (Michelle) and the rest of the gang!

Phrase of the weekend...'It's a better bad'

Through hail, tornadoes, floods and now blackouts! We will play flyball!

Yes, we will!

Diana, don't push that red button! Don't do it!!

Could it be that she caused the largest blackout in the history of the North East?! Oh probably.

The NET gang headed west again for a short eleven hour drive to Hamilton Ontario for Rocket Relays 'Binbrook Blast'. Problem was, the Binbrook Blast moved to Ancaster because of the blackout. But, that was the least of our troubles.

Thursday afternoon Gail, Diana, Eileen and Jillian left from the east in good spirits for another lovely trip out the New York Thru-way to meet up with the rest of NET. Scott, Kathryn and Noah had started earlier in the day and Joanne, Jim, Hunter and Michelle were leaving on Friday.

Scott, Kathryn and Noah got to Binbrook just in time to get plugged into their favorite spot and sit in the dark wondering why.

Gail, Diana, Eileen and Jillian got as far as lovely Patterson, New York where they ran into some problems finding fuel for the 26' trailer and 15 passenger van, eleven dogs and 4 people. How many gallons of gas does it take to move that rig?

Let's see...

A wonderful traveler stopped and gave us a gallon...not enough.

We hopped the fence and found a Fire Station and they gave us a gallon...still not enough.

We hopped the fence again (did you know it's not legal to walk on the NY Thru-way...we do...the State Trooper said so.) and the Fireman gave us a ride to the Thru-way Service Station and back again just in time for Triple A to bring us five gallons. Well, at least we had enough gas!

On we went to somewhere near Buffalo where the lights were on, if only temporarily to sleep in a truck stop between Freightline and Peterbuilt.

Friday, the power came back on (sort of) and so did the heat and humidity. If we thought it would be cooler up in Canada we were wrong! Even the Maid of the Mist at Niagara couldn't take the heat and was closed for the day (it figures, Gail, Diana, Eileen and Jillian had plans to go for a ride... maybe next time guys!)

By Friday afternoon we had all made it to Binbrook unpacked, packed and moved along to Ancaster. Racing went very well for us. The new Border/Jack pups, Gail's 'Sting', Michelle's 'Yikes' and Scott's 'Pyro' all ran famously and are a credit to each handler's dedication to training. Jo-Anne's 'Nitrous' made his second appearance and ran as a core on the Multi team. Jillian tried her hand at boxloading and was excellent...congrats to everyone.

The most exciting event came Saturday morning when not only did we compete in Division One Regular (a place we have not previously frequented) but we managed to break into the 15 second club! Now, how the heck did that happen!!?? Well, it did, ya know, and there is no looking back. Onward and upward...the only question is. What do we do now!?

Answer: Do it again...only faster!
